i'm running this red light

Tonight I think I'm gonna get drunk at the movie theatre and go to the dominion tavern. If you've seen me get my lean on this passed year you know that I tend to channel Tracy Morgan's energy. I feel like going to open mic stand up and just pretending to be him.

peace to the gods and the earths

Back to the music. A forty of olde english with grape soda is pretty awesome. I did it for the joke but I think this shit is on its way to being a BBC staple. Anyways I've been listenting to Pinkerton by Weezer a whole lot these days. I'm just gonna post the three singles from that album. The Good Life is my current jam.

4-5-9 Octobre

Sup! sup!! sup!!! Just your boy BBC checking up on you kids. Today is going to be another francophone fest. A lot of people are coming up to me in the streets of centertown going like "Big Baby, I love the blog yo! You holding it down! But like me and a lot of girls out there think the shit you post is too hard. We need that pussy indie shit to request at Zaphod's on friday nights". So this goes out to my american apparel legging as pants slut patrol making sure awkard douchebags get fucked on the weekly.

Now I'm kind of late on this one but BONJOUR BRUMAIRE. The band that Coeur de pirate used to play keyboard in. What makes these guys go into the next level of hipster douche is that they are mainly anglophones singing in French to be more artistic I guess. I'm not sure what I hate more the band or the fact that I like this band. This song is called BROOKLYN and it's about w-burgh jacking some of MTL's steeze.

Next up is a dude I saw a bunch of times XAVIER CAFEINE. This might sound shallow but whatever. I think his music is good however if he changed his look and his name it could be pretty popular with the English world. Anyways I never listened to a full album but at the community center out in the suburbs that I work at, his biggest hit is like the only song I can stand on the cds we have. So I put this track, MONTRÉAL (CETTE VILLE), on repeat. The shit is catchy and it oozes of white Montréal.

Finally I apologize to my legging girls out there but fuck a kid like big baby don't know how else to be but hard. SANS PRESSION - JOE B.G. R.I.P. A tribute song to his hypeman. Probably the most known hypeman in francophone hip hop. He tragically died in a fire in east Montréal a week before his first solo album came out. The building was an old one that are notorious of burning really badly. His mom was my sister's landlord in St-Henri. This was really sad. Warning this is a shitty youtube fan video but the song is worth it.

BONUS BIGGIE MATERIAL. The Unbelievable mixtape is nuts GET IT. To wet your appetite I have embedded a streamable and downloadable version. My current jam I can't get enough of is track 20 ESCAPE FROM NY feat prodigy form mobb deep. Worth the check out if you like hip hop.

my loveletter typewriter has no capital letters. drives homes on autumn sundays are how i feel.

Taking a break of my research and way too filling samosas to for a quick half assed post on the old blog. I mentioned that I got a bunch of Mishka gear and I really wanted to wear it at the February Disorganized. I even sacrificed an extra layer of warmth to not have to coat check a hoodie/coat combo. My problem is that I hang out with poor motherfuckers . Hell I even rudely asked to get (and got on) the guest list and offered to donate that free spot as a 50% off coupon for those 2 francophone eastern European sacks of shit. I didn't end up going... That being said I'm going to post a JOKERS OF THE SCENE video today because they play every Disorg and I must have "seen" them like over 20 times now. I didn't notice how big they have gotten in the dance music universe though. I mean I go to a lot of electro nu rave shit in Ottawa but like I can't follow that shit online. My friends who have their Hipster game tight are like did you hear such and such remix of whatever djs and I'm like huh? There's just too much volume for me to keep up. Hell I posted a Rye-Rye video on here once and I didn't realize I had seen her at Disorganized! I go there to party and enjoy the sights and sounds and hang out next to the photo booth. So yeah apparently JOTS are big now, good for them. BAGGY BOTTOM BOYS is the song and this youtube video sets it to images of the Tom Hanks classic Big.

Don't have much of anything else to share today but I would suggest you all to check out the new BRIGHTS song on their myspace. It's radical.

Watch out, I'm making gym workout mixtape and I want to host it funkmaster flex/dj drama style.

as we proceed to give you what you need

First off I want to give a shout out to my boy Barack Obama a good friend of mine tearing up the D.C. scene. Because of him there was a 44% off sale over at MISHKA not only a great streetwear brand but also one of the best blogs on the internet. They cover the shit I identify with in hipsterdom you know? What I would consider the manly version of hipster shit. Anyways I bought a boatload of shit during the sale and was wearing this fly keep watch long sleeve last night. I also had Myriam's dad's plaid Kangol hat. I kind of had a biggie type vibe. At the post improv bar people were showing love for the look and it felt great. The French (from France) girl who works at the pivik even came up to me. I should have fuckin followed up on that DAMNIT! Her accent in English alone was worth it. After I went to Rock N Roll Pizza Party. I almost didn't go but The Cramps came on in my shuffle and i felt like the demonic ghost of Lux Interior possessed my body to party, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah. Chilled with some great kids Alexandra, Dave Dave and Jon specifically, that being said there are a lot of fucking assholes in Ottawa who hang out there. Hipster rap is the theme, fuck the haters.

YELLE doesn't really rap all the time but whatever. It was pretty damn cool to see a francophone musician on American network television singing in French. The vocals on this video aren't as good as when I saw her this summer. The song is A CAUSE DES GARÇONS (which everyone has heard a million times). Yelle needs a new album pretty badly. Still though check out the clip.

Now if you saw me this summer you probably saw me rolling BMX. I don't want to sound like a dick or nothing though but FUCK fixies. There's nothing like leaning the fuck back on your bmx on a bright sunny day. Having your jordans 1s match your custom NHL hat and defunct hardcore band tshirt riding that bitch one handed and drinking a bit of diet pepsi and smiling at all the shorties that you pass by on bank street. Mmmmmmm. This video and song is the must click of the fucking WEEK. COOL KIDS - BLACK MAG. It's about dope as shit bmx bikes. I probably won't ever be able to do a 180 but god damn does it feel great to cruise on a bmx.

Finally you know me I can't let Yelle get the last word. C'EST POUR MIEUX GAGNER, a promo thing for CUIZINIER aka YUNG CUEEZY. I swear Teki and Cueeze's mixtape game is so tight the next TTC album will annihilate everything that moves. Mark my words. Slight Yelle diss in this clip if you look closely. This video was my life circa October of last year.

p.s. click on the Cool Kids video.

LUX INTERIOR R.I.P.

We lost somebody very important yesterday LEGENDARY band, The Cramps' lead singer Lux Interior. I have posted cramps videos in the past but never went into the details of the profound impact they have had on my life. The group that has started me on the path I am on today. No joke I became hooked after seeing them on the anti-gravity room (best show ever) back in 95 during the 6th grade. My first intro to the concept of music existing outside the mainstream. It sparked the desire of attaining "secret knowledge" in terms of culture that could give me a sense of superiority over loser jocks. FUCK, I love The Cramps. I am really depressed that I will never see them live now... For those who don't know almost all hipster shit has a link to Lux and The Cramps. The people who formed Minor Threat and members of the Bad Brains went to their show in D.C. back in the day. A legendary moment in the birth of hardcore.

sigh...

passed out with your ass out, pockets ran through with your brains bashed out

Today I was a the national archives getting stressed about school... Probably a good thing since I need to get my ass in gear. I also cut my hair for the first time in my life today. I will keep my dome well shaved for the foreseeable future. Seriously guys, shaving your head feels great and I recommend it heavily. SKINHEAD RENAISSANCE! Elsewhere I've decided to devote some of my free time to charitable endeavors. I want to start doing improvisation workshops with kids at C.H.E.O. this summer (if they let me that is!). I'm pretty internally grumpy these days but that doesn't mean I can't try to help others! No theme whatsoever today.

First up is a group I love NEW ORDER. A video from the same BBC radio performance I posted about a few months back. This is their biggest hit BLUE MONDAY but stretched out (7:33!) and made better. This live performance is NUTS! Bernard Sumner always looked angry and I love it.

In the same electro vein is current MTL group NUMÉRO#. I've really been getting into them recently and I thinkthey might be my favorite Montréal band. This is their first video I saw of them on MusiquePlus. It's called BOURGEOUSIE and it's pretty high budget for a franco-north american video.

Finally we have the most played song of the month on my ipod. BROOKLYN GIRLS by CHARLES HAMILTON. This guy is a fucking SOLID rapper and will ride this hipster rap wave with Kid Cudi. You don't understand how much I love this song. I want the instrumental and make a french version called filles de Vanier.

P.S. I WANT TO GIVE A BIG FUCK YOU TO UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP FOR THEIR NO EMBEDDING POLICY ON YOUTUBE. YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING DOUCHEBAGS AND I HOPE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY COLLAPSES UNDER THE WEIGHT OF YOUR GERIATRIC ASSES. SQUARE UP RECORDS FOR LIFE.
