Not much going on these days apart from me being way pumped for the Habs starting out their season on a good foot. I really have high hopes pour le C-H this year. No ones got history like us, no ones got love like us!
Semi new stuff today.
I'm going to start you off with a FUCKED UP double pack. Fucked Up are one of my favorite hardcore bands today and I have already posted about them. Like I said before they are good at publicity but I truly believe that publicity or whatever is part of true art. Fucked Up really attack every aspect of being a band. Performance, recording, packaging, politics and personality. They used to be cool to like but now they are getting cool to hate. I think that's bullshit. I am normally the first guy to hate on shit but I just can't with them. They are putting out some of the coolest most mental records ever to come out of hardcore. Serious. The Chemistry of Common Life is going to go down as a classic. That being said they are sort of like a folk band in the sense they modify a lot of their songs for live performances. The first clip is the song TWICE BORN recently performed at MTV live canada. Crazy fucking performance. The best part though is my good friend JAYHU (aka jehu butcher of the omrides) is in this video. He's the guy wearing a blue and yellow tshirt with the # 95 on the back he also gets security out of the way so the kids can get into the washroom. I swear this guy is the best ever. One of the only people I can say with 100% certitude will be a lifer veteran in hardcore, shit he ALREADY is a vet.
Second video is from a 12h marathon they did in NYC the other day. Its a cover of BLITZKRIEG BOP with motherfucking MOBY on guitar.
Next we have a double pack of SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO. A band I don't really know that well but Paul G put me on to the other day. The song is HUSTLER pretty much one of the best videos ever. Oddly enough they made a new video for the song that came out his week. It's good but the old one is better due to babes getting all indigo girls like. I'm posting both so you can choose which one is the best. Youth Anthems: fair and balanced.

Always been told that I've got too much pride
I have good friend named Tim. He coined the word "ooooh" and is like Lex Luthor. All around good dude. The other day we were watching NFL football at his house and we were talking about stuff. Like how I loved his team's name in last year's fantasy league, CUTLER FEVER. Now Jay Cutler is a really good QB who plays for the Denver Broncos (tim's supposed team, although I am actively trying to convert him to my BUFFALO BILLS). As we were watching Jay Cutler on the sidelines sans helmet and tim's like "oooooooh he's got hair like you! punk hair! vegetarian hair!" And I was like yo, Jay Cutler rules and I'm happy to sort of look like him. This post is dedicated to all artsy sport fans aka the Jay Cutlers out there.
First musicvideo is pretty fucked up in the sense that it's NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK. Its fucked up that when you're a really young boy you like gay shit (as in homosexual, not bad). Like Michael Jackson I liked the New Kids in the late 80's. Probably why most pedophiles hit up little boys and not little girls, they like the same stuff. So yeah NKOTB's comeback. The reason I'm even bothering with this is cause I love the show Entourage and how that's supposed to be Mark Wahlberg's life. Well that would mean that Johnny Drama is actually Donnie Wahlberg. Seeing him get a moment to shine makes think of that episode where Johnny Drama goes on Jimmy Kimmel. That and Ne-Yo is an amazing singer songwriter. I present to you the worst song ever to be featured on my blog SINGLE by NKOTB.
Next video is another one from MALAJUBE. ETIENNE D'AOUT is my favorite song on their album Tromp L'Oeil and I am shocked I had no idea there was a video for it! Not only that but it's one of the best musicvideos I have EVER seen. Funerals are so heavy. I fucking hate them, this video/song combo is real cathartic though.
Next up is an artist I was 100% sure I was going to loathe, FINAL FANTASY. Mainly because of the name and cause he was Canadian but when I saw him live at the Bluesfest last year I was really blown away by his performance. He's got a new video which looks cool but the song isn't super good. So I included his cover of Mariah Carey's Fantasy.
BONUS SHIT.
Not even a song. Today I purchased my first album in years and it wasn't even music. I bought JEN KIRKMAN's stand up comedy on iTunes. Holy fuck. I am in love with her. She's my new celebri-crush. Watch her get drunk and talk about slavery.

She's got her own motivation
One meal a day is working amazing not only in terms of me feeling awesome but the hatred it garners. People will trip out about a single meal more than they will about important issues in today's A.I.G.-less world. In my everlasting me against the world mentality I will dedicate this post to punk/hardcore bands with singers that rarely wear shirts and could beat the shit out of me, a very elite club my friends. If these knuckles good talk.
First up let's go classic. BLACK FLAG. People generally love this band more than anything from that era which always perplexed me. I guess it's the logo, the fact they toured like motherfuckers and their sound is less screamy. Another thing I find funny about fans of this band is they always like to make the point that Henry Rollins isn't their favorite Black Flag frontman. Sure he becomes more and more of a parody of himself as the years go on but come on, he's the coolest frontman. Accept this. The song is called TV PARTY and its one of their catchiest. Shout out to Monday Night Football!
Now we go from L.A. to N.Y.C. to one of my favorite HC bands in the entire world. MADBALL. Now they really differ from a lot of NYHC probably because they were born and raised in NYC and didn't just move there. They are way tougher and don't care at all about vegetarianism or straight edge. That being said they are political when it comes to immigration issues in the states as many members are latin american. Their sound is a bit more slowed down as well. I saw them last summer for the second time and when I came out I had blood on my tshirt that wasn't mine. As I was chilling infront of Babylon with Josée Business and Jayhu we saw hoya (the huge latino bass player), I walked to him and gave him a now legendary pound. Check out DOWN BY LAW and see what I'm talking about.
Finally we go to Toronto (yack). I figure I have to showcase this band for those who don't know what I'm talking about when I mention them all the time, FUCKED UP. They are taking hardcore in a really interesting generation. Although I love their collections of singles (epic in minutes) their their 2 most recent releases have been really cool trippy mind fucks and not in a dumb way. I feel like they really "get it". Their singer Pink Eyes aka Father Damian is a king publicity guy which is good. Hardcore shuns marketing too much. Anyways they have no music videos that I know of(which is surprising). On many of their live videos the sound isn't too good but hey what can you do. They are fucking crazy live, I am thinking about going to see them this Halloween in Toronto which would be huge for me (i.e. not going to Halloween hardcore in ottawa). check out BAITING THE PUBLIC!

DIDDY has an online song with T.I's swagger like us beat (but modified). The song is called SWAGGER LIKE PUFF. I must say its kinda cool. Fun to see Puff Daddy back to trying to be a rapper. He's got some pretty good lines in this. The video is another of his ridiculous youtube clips which it makes it oh so much better. Trucks with no doors, wtf. Bad Boy record por la vida.
