You ask me what I meant by

I really shouldn't be updating now but whatever. Newish hip hop (some clips are a bit old but the artists are still considered up and coming).

KIDZ IN THE HALL - DRIVING DOWN THE BLOCK. It has the obvious american hipster rap sound but I like it. The video is original but they could have went with a more traditional clip and maybe gotten more success. Very similar in sound the Cool Kids - Black Mags... who copied who?

Next is a mental song I am really digging K.R.E.A.M. by U-N-I. An obvious homage to the wu tang classic about sneakers (kicks rule everything around me). If the dude didn't have a cheesy frohawk I would back this group 1 million %. This song is making me think that summer is soon and that I'm gonna need a fresh pair of overpriced sneaks to look amazing in. I can't wait.

Finally we have a dude who's heralded as the next eminem but he has a calmer demeanor and is a great example of what white rappers can be. To me hip-hop works if you're talking from an honest point of view. ASHER ROTH - I LOVE COLLEGE. His voice could be a bit better but the subject matter hits me real close to home. I can't wait for my temporary-edge to be OVER. Pretty sure there's a Weezer sample in there which is pretty damn cool.

death threats and warehouses

Man I have not posted in awhile. No excuses I know the internet needs French Iain. Aight so recently I have been listening to A LOT of hardcore. For a scene that I truly love I admit that I suck at keeping up with the HC jones'. Anyways Cold World's latest (which I am way late on) is dominating my Ipod along with Trash Talk which is dominating my life. My boy Lozinski aka Stems Volchuk is moving me away from posi shit to grimy shit. For better or for worse Youth Anthems is a music video blog and HC clips on youtube don't communicate the true intensity of the music live or recorded and there are next to no true music videos for HC acts. That being said I went to a fucked up warehouse party in Vanier this past weekend and I would of felt like a hipster had I not been wasted into another dimension. This party is like what I imagine really cool scenes like New York or London to be like all the time. The fact that it was in my favorite area of Ottawa was pretty cool too. So today we are going to be on some dance-ier electronic stuff.

Starting up with TELEPATHE a girl group that evokes that 80s England sound that I really like. Think New Order mixed with a very little bit of modern top 40 pop. They are from Brooklyn though... I am getting really sick of writing that. Song is called SO FINE.

Next up is a rapper that Jeanbart of Omnikrom talked about on their blog and really blew me away. THEOPHILUS LONDON. He just has a really dark fucking electronic vibe. Like east german electro weirdos mixed with some Bed-Stuy flow. I fucking love it and I am really heavy on this band wagon. He's got a free mixtape that I really recommend you download. Song is HIGHER. The must click of the day.

Finally we have some old GHISLAIN POIRIER - OMNIKROM joint. Both are coming out with some new stuff I am excited about. Ghislain is going to be playing Disorg and it should be pretty awesome. This is some weird live thing they did and it's got a really good dont give a fuck vibe to it. Gabbo's flow can be annoying at first but it really gets you after awhile. Like he just doesn't care, I love it. Kinda like my van flows I was dropping this weekend. Song is RIVIÈRE DE DIAMANTS.

To the maximum

Man I gotta step my blog game up a little bit here. I don't like my decreasing level of posts as time goes on. I'm going to try to turn December into Youthcember. Maybe redesign the layout create some new graphics for this thing, get real crazy. In other news NFL in Toronto fucking sucks. You know your city is shitty when people would rather go to BUFFALO for sports games. If it wasn't for my amazing friends who live there I would have no reason to go there, ever. I also went to MTL for a habs game. My sister and I sang made up songs about the habs and we were superstars of our section. People wanted the lyrics to our chants AND we drank beers with straws.... The Campbells are a dangerous bunch. Last friday was also DISORGANIZED a monthly Ottawa dance night I've been going to for a couple of years now. Good times overall the girls get dressed up and they're hot (and coked up :( ). I went with my great friend PASCALE CONSPIRACY. We got pretty stupid as usual and we were on some next level shit. Way ahead of the rest of the crowd. Some douchy ultra gay guy used the word tranny as an insult and we just took it and ran with it. This post is dedicated to gender bending dance rappers.

N.1 is gay hip hop duo SGT. SASS. with a pretty cool baltimore club remix of their song HOMO HOMIE. This video is really gay (haha)

Next up is a pair of lesbian rappers who have been making a lot of noise recently YO MAJESTY. The song I am sharing is CLUB ACTION. These girls just come off as being fucking hard I'm surprised they do party rap and not straight up murder shit. Get into it.

Finally we have something that is not at all gender bending but it is dancey.... The undisputed song of the summer DAY N' NITE by KID CUDI. He was on the cover of XXL recently and he's on Kanye's new and wonderful album. I predict big time celebrity for this guy. I saw him at disorganized this summer and it was amazing. Not only cuz of the music but also cuz my friend Jon Linke and I were hammered and jumped on the stage at the end. Shit I also had an afterparty beside the Rideau Canal. Hands down one of the best nights this summer. This video is brand spankin new and it's the crookers remix of the song.

BONUS.

I think I might write up an entire review of Kanye's album.
